ABOUT
Wanting to know more about me?
I first took birth doula training in 2014, when my little ones were little, and I was trying to figure out what next to do with my life. I'd always been one of those naturally caring people, and nursing was top of my list, but I didn't really have the time/energy/funds to go back to school for that long. One of my closest friends suggested doula work, and the rest is history. Once I started reading The Birth Partner, I realized how much I hadn't known when I gave birth, and how different things could be. Fast forward a few years, and my youngest was starting school. I took my postpartum training so I could fill all those long, boring days I was anticipating without my kids in the house, only to find out the days weren't so long. Birth is still my primary focus, but I love being able to provide the continuity of care for my birth clients who are also wanting some postpartum support.
Over the years I've taken so many workshops it's hard to keep track. Early on I learned to use a rebozo for comfort in labour. I've taken a few lactation or breastfeeding workshops. I did a Birth Art class with Birthing From Within. A Spinning Babies workshop (go check out their website, I recommend them to everyone.) When Survivors Give Birth (there is also a book;) a Gender and Sexual Diversity workshop; and in 2022 I became an instructor with St John Ambulance.
I have two kids who are now teenagers, a small yard with a big garden, and a husband who supports me through all the chaos.
If there is anything I haven't covered and you're dying to know, please reach out and say hi!
